Hear the Witches Plea

We are not evil
We don’t harm or seduce people.
We are not dangerous.
We are ordinary people like you.
We have families, jobs, hopes, dreams.
We are not a cult.
This religion is not a joke.
We are not what you think we are from looking at t.v.
We are real.
We laugh, we cry.
We are serious.
We have a sense of humour.
You don’t have to be afraid of us.
We don’t want to convert you.
And please don’t try to convert us.
Just give us the same right we give you–to live in peace.
We are much more than you think.

Pagan/Wiccan Etiquette

These are just general guidelines. Always remember to show respect to others even non-Wiccan/Pagans

* It’s a huge NO-NO  to identify anyone as participating in Wicca or as having Pagan beliefs. This can be extremely harmful and detrimental to the person who has been “outed”. It may seriously harm someone to share this information with even one person! Wiccans and Pagans  are still subject to persecution, ridicule, prejudice and harassment. In many cases this includes our own family.  A Witch may “come out of the broom closet” to only certain people. Never assume it to be your responsibility to share that information with others. Always be mindful of what you say. If you follow the Wiccan Rede (“An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”) remember that outing someone can be harmful and is never acceptable.

* Even if you accidentally tell others about someones beliefs, tell the Witch involved as soon as possible exactly what was said. She may want to do damage-control. This is not a time to become defensive, remember you were wrong and it’s common respect to give him/her fair warning before she is confronted and caught off guard.

* Don’t “evangelize” others. No wants wants to feel as if  they are being forced to convert their beliefs. You can tell people about your spiritual path of course.  But no religion benefits by being forced down other peoples throats. This is basic Wiccan etiquette, that all religions would be smart to follow.

*Never cast spells on other witches. Never use the power against some else who has the power. If someone has “the power” they are connected to the Divine. So another person connected would be damaging their own power by working against another also connected.  Performing magick against other Witches brings the repercussions back to the sender.

*If you know of a Witch who is casting spells  against another tell the other Witch immediately. Harm will never come to the Witch that a spell has been cast against but harm will come to the sender. It is best for you both to disconnect from that individual and try the “friendship” again later after the individual has had time to grow and mature.

*Remember some individuals get arrogant after learning about the “Craft” and use their powers to stroke their own egos. It is best to disconnect from these types.

*Using magick irresponsibly goes against the Rede

*Never use magick against another that is in the craft.

Spells and Magickal Etiquette

This is only a guide and does not express the opinions of all Wiccans and Pagans. Use this list and add more to it if you desire.

* Remember the Wiccan Rede . . . “Do as you will, and harm none.”.

* Never do magick or a spell that seeks to control anyone else. That includes spells you think are for their own good. Never try to dominate another through magick. This rule makes loves spells controversial.

* Only cast a spell for another person if they have asked you to do so. Then ONLY do the exact spell that they have asked for…do not add to or take away from what they have specified.

* There are exceptions to every rule for example, animals, the sick and elderly, minors, physically disabled or other persons who are under your care. Always check carefully to make sure you’re magick is within the Divine will.

* Think all magick through thoroughly. Try NOT to do magick that affects a whole community (i.e. weather magick). Weather magick will change the natural pattern . . . You could be responsible for far-off droughts or floods. Which in turn affects farmers and their crops and livestock. Which directly affects their income.

* Be respectful to your magick. Always perform your spells in places where you can remain focused and uninterrupted.

* Clean up your magickal/sacred space before you begin. Use your besom and/or vaccum, dust, consecrate your tools, when wiping things down use salt water for purification, censor or walk the area with a incense stick or cone.

*Clean up your magickal/sacred space residue. Release the  elements and deities, thank them or show appreciation for their presence, erase signs and symbols, and open the circle before you leave.

*Try not to leave your circle during rituals and spell casting but if you must, ALWAYS cut a door/opening with your wand, athame or index finger of your power hand.

The FULL Wiccan Rede

Wiccan Rede
Bide the Wiccan Law ye must,
In perfect love and perfect trust.
Live and let live,
Fairly take and fairly give.
Cast the Circle thrice about,
To keep the evil spirits out.
To bind the spell every time,
Let the spell be spake in rhyme.
Soft of eye and light of touch,
Speak little, listen much.
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
Chanting out the Witches Rune.
Widdershins go by the waning moon,
Chanting out the baneful Rune.
When the Lady’s moon is new,
Kiss the hand to her, times two.
When the moon rides at her peak,
Then your heart’s desire seek.
Heed the North wind’s mighty gail,
Lock the door and drop the sail.
When the wind comes from the South,
Love will kiss thee on the mouth.
When the wind blows from the West,
Departed souls will have no rest.
When the wind blows from the East,
Expect the new and set the feast.
Nine woods in the cauldron go,
Burn them fast and burn them slow.
Elder be the Lady’s tree,
Burn it not or cursed you’ll be.
When the Wheel begins to turn,
Let the Beltane fire’s burn.
When the Wheel has turned to Yule,
Light the Log and the Horned One rules.
Heed ye Flower, Bush, and Tree;
By the Lady, Blessed Be.
Where the rippling waters go,
Cast a stone and truth you’ll know.
When ye have a true need,
Hearken not to other’s greed.
With a fool no season spend,
Lest ye be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part,
Bright the cheeks and warm the heart,
Mind the Threefold Law you should,
Three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow,
Wear the blue star on they brow.
True in Love ever be,
Lest they lover is false to thee.
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill:
An’ ye harm none, do what ye will
Follow this with Mind and Heart
Merry ye Meet and Merry ye Part

Altar Offerings/ How I found Five Finger Grass

Do you offer anything to your Goddess and God at your altar. Offerings at your altar are a sign of respect and gratitude. Offerings vary from person to person and belief to belief. I provide offerings whether or not I am casting a circle, spell or working my Magick.  Many believe it only necessary to offer milk, wine, water bread etc. at that time of spell casting, circle casting and things of that nature.
When making food and drink offerings try to give them in containers like glass or clay and not plastics or other synthetic materials, but if plastic is all you have then go for it.

I leave a small bowl of nuts in a clear glass bowl for them when I am not home. Within a few hours after returning I take the bowl of  nuts and make an offering to Nature outside under a tree, that way the squirrels and birds eat it and nothing goes to waste. When I leave water as an offering within a few hours I take the water out to the garden and pour it on the plants. I also offer fresh flowers and dried flowers and fresh and dried herbs. It makes the flowers and herbs more powerful when I use them in my mixtures and tinctures.
Offerings are to make your Goddess/God happy and pleased with you. Don’t take, take, take and never offer, especially when they do so much to keep us safe and happy.

Today I went out to the creek and picked a beautiful bouquet of flowers and plants to set up for my Goddess and God on my altar. And guess what?!?!…they blessed me for my offering before I even had a chance to set it up. I stumbled upon some five-finger grass!!! YAY…
(I was just about to order some online 2 days before)…Can you believe it!!! Anyone who is familiar with spells and magickal herbs knows how important five-finger grass and five-finger grass roots are. I feel so honored that Nature heard my prayer and put some in my path. I included a pic at the end of this blog entry it’s kind of in the back so it may be hard to see. I plucked a leaf and took a separate photo also.
So any way I set up the bouquet with the five-finger grass on my altar.
I went home and cross referenced it with my magickal herb books and it definitely is five-finger grass.

I just wanted to share my blessings with all of you and reiterate how important offerings and alter offerings are.

Brightest Blessing,

The Importance of Keeping Your Altar Clean & Positive Interaction With It

Today we are going to review why it’s important to “show love” to your altar.

I believe if you view your altar as your sacred place you will want to keep it clean. Would you want your Goddess and God coming to visit and you have a half-eaten bologna sandwich resting on your wand.  Of course not. This is your sacred space where you are calling on deities of great power.

If you have been having problems with your magick not working or being incomplete, check to make sure your alter space is not cluttered.Your altar is directing your energy, will, intent and etc..Think of it this way. If you and a friend are in a crowded parking lot full of people and cars it will take longer to find each other, you will eventually find her but it’ll take longer than if you were in an empty lot with no people and cars. It would be a straight path to locate your friend and essentially that is what you always want…a straight path with no interference.

In my opinion a happy (clean) altar expresses its gratitude by (1) effectively influencing your life  (2) bringing forth positive energy and results (3) ascending you to your goals (4) providing spiritual enlightenment.

Your altar is your friend you don’t have to speak to communicate with it, it is an extension of your belief.

Always try to interact with your altar in a positive manner. Remember your altar can pick up on your energy. Never cast your magick when you are angry or frustrated. Of course you already know our goal is to harm none, but you may unknowingly transmit harmful vibes that could bring harm to others.

It is tradition to clean your altar and tools with sea salt water, which is very easy to find and cheap..but if you can’t find sea salt, table salt or kosher, regular disinfecting cleaning supplies will do.

Remember your altar is your sacred place. Respect it and your magick will be plentiful, but on the other hand disrespect it and your magick will more than likely be less effective.

Brightest Blessings,
