The Witches Pyramid

The witches Pyramid really worked to help me understand and get POWER out of my spells and other castings.

To Know, To Will, To Dare, and To Keep Silent. These make up the witches Pyramid.. Follow them with every spell casting and see how miraculous you’re results will be.

To Know
-corresponds to Air
-represents the witch’s reason/intellect/intuition/wisdom and other more mystical understandings…

This means know what you are doing, intellectually and practically. To have knowledge of spell work & magick, what may work best in your situation, what you are able to handle, are comfortable with, how to execute what you want. Know your spell. Research it, think of ALL possible outcomes. Know what element of spell it should be candle (fire), incense (air) and so forth. If you choose a candle spell, then know why you want to do a candle spell. If you choose a certain type of spell do it b/c you like it or b/c it speaks to you in a certain way. This is all about you and your energy don’t do what another is doing, do what is right for you.

Now that you have decided on the type of spell, learn about and know the steps/process. Always gather your tools in advance. Make each spell your own…For example…Let’s say you are feeling nervous and tense and want to do a relaxation spell on yourself. You find a the perfect spell for you BUT the spell calls for Lavender (lavender buds, lavender oil, lavender scented candle) but you relate pink to relaxation and roses make you feel calm..So tweak the spell to suit you. Instead of lavender use roses (rose oil or rose water, rose petals, rose scented candle). If you complete the spell using elements you don’t like. The spell will NOT work, b/c your energy will be focused on your dislike for lavender…

To Will
-corresponds to Fire
-represents the witch’s Will/Discipline/her skills in the arts of magic and life.

To Will – refers to magickal will. This means to be able to generate enough emotional and psychic energy to accomplish your purpose. I can’t stress enough that you must believe. Believe in your work, believe in your words, believe in your craft, believe in yourself and believe in your inner power. It’s not only your conscious mind that has to believe in the spell. Every fiber of your being must BELIEVE.

My spells still make me feel all giddy and nervous inside. I gather my tools and talk to the Goddesses and/or Gods I will be working with or if my spell does not involve a God or Goddess, I still talk to them while I prepare and thank them for previous spell works.

You should also respect the spell by turning off all distractions (t.v, radio put your cell phone on vibrate). I like to play Enya while I’m casting ( Enya-Only Time or Enya-Orinoco flow) or I like complete silence with no music. Remember this is your spell so do what is right for you. Your spell feeds off of your thoughts and energy, and if you don’t feed it well, it will not prosper.

To Dare
-corresponds to Water
-represents the witch’s Emotions/Heart since the word courage derives from a word that means “heart”

Until you act, the spell will be nothing more than a particularly vivid daydream. Yes, thoughts are real and can have an effect upon the world, but for an effective spell, you have to go through the motions. You don’t have to wait until you have your own private temple and the bestest altar and a perfect relationship with your Deities. You can make do with a few basics. Intent is the key here. Intent comes under Will and Dare. Are you making the best of your time, energy and resources? If you can’t afford actual granulated Frankincense, charcoal and a brazier, a stick of frankincense incense will do. If you don’t have your own permanent stone altar, a nice altar cloth spread over a convenient surface will suffice.

To Keep Silent
-corresponds with Earth

To Keep Silent– means to Shut Up About It!!! Don’t talk to anyone about it. Your positive energy is very important to a spell but someone elses negative energy can effect your spell also (even if they were not part of the ritual). Have you ever heard of a hater..Then you should understand why you should keep silent. There are even a rare few people who will go home and actively craft a counter-spell Witches have always been a secretive lot. In the old days of persecution, of course, there was a life-or-death need for secrecy. Today, Witches are more likely to be discreet about their spells and workings. There’s a practical reason for this: spells seem to work better when they’re not blabbed about. Indeed, some traditions believe that, after the spell is cast, it must not be spoken of nor thought about until the desired result has been achieved and verified. Many groups will not even discuss the particular working while in Circle, believing that this has a tendency to “pull back” the power and negate the working.

Not only that I just think it is bad etiquette to talk about such a sacred act.

I hope this helps

Brightest Blessings,

Bewitched

Pagan/Wiccan Etiquette

These are just general guidelines. Always remember to show respect to others even non-Wiccan/Pagans

* It’s a huge NO-NO  to identify anyone as participating in Wicca or as having Pagan beliefs. This can be extremely harmful and detrimental to the person who has been “outed”. It may seriously harm someone to share this information with even one person! Wiccans and Pagans  are still subject to persecution, ridicule, prejudice and harassment. In many cases this includes our own family.  A Witch may “come out of the broom closet” to only certain people. Never assume it to be your responsibility to share that information with others. Always be mindful of what you say. If you follow the Wiccan Rede (“An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”) remember that outing someone can be harmful and is never acceptable.

* Even if you accidentally tell others about someones beliefs, tell the Witch involved as soon as possible exactly what was said. She may want to do damage-control. This is not a time to become defensive, remember you were wrong and it’s common respect to give him/her fair warning before she is confronted and caught off guard.

* Don’t “evangelize” others. No wants wants to feel as if  they are being forced to convert their beliefs. You can tell people about your spiritual path of course.  But no religion benefits by being forced down other peoples throats. This is basic Wiccan etiquette, that all religions would be smart to follow.

*Never cast spells on other witches. Never use the power against some else who has the power. If someone has “the power” they are connected to the Divine. So another person connected would be damaging their own power by working against another also connected.  Performing magick against other Witches brings the repercussions back to the sender.

*If you know of a Witch who is casting spells  against another tell the other Witch immediately. Harm will never come to the Witch that a spell has been cast against but harm will come to the sender. It is best for you both to disconnect from that individual and try the “friendship” again later after the individual has had time to grow and mature.

*Remember some individuals get arrogant after learning about the “Craft” and use their powers to stroke their own egos. It is best to disconnect from these types.

*Using magick irresponsibly goes against the Rede

*Never use magick against another that is in the craft.

Basic Rules of Karma

BASIC RULES OF KARMA
Simply put, karma is the result of previous acts or deeds,
either in the past or in past lives. Many people for some
reason, think there is only ‘bad’ karma. But think about it,
if you owe karma to someone, then someone is in a
position to receive a karmic repayment. So there is both
positive and negative aspects of karma.
In all walks of life, karma is in affect for everyone. But in
magikal or spiritual rituals, it is doubly so. What you put
out into the universe will come back to you. If you put
out good thoughts, energies and intentions, then good
will be returned to you. By the same token, if you put out
negative thoughts, energies and actions, negative events and energies will
be returned to you.

Spells and Magickal Etiquette

This is only a guide and does not express the opinions of all Wiccans and Pagans. Use this list and add more to it if you desire.

* Remember the Wiccan Rede . . . “Do as you will, and harm none.”.

* Never do magick or a spell that seeks to control anyone else. That includes spells you think are for their own good. Never try to dominate another through magick. This rule makes loves spells controversial.

* Only cast a spell for another person if they have asked you to do so. Then ONLY do the exact spell that they have asked for…do not add to or take away from what they have specified.

* There are exceptions to every rule for example, animals, the sick and elderly, minors, physically disabled or other persons who are under your care. Always check carefully to make sure you’re magick is within the Divine will.

* Think all magick through thoroughly. Try NOT to do magick that affects a whole community (i.e. weather magick). Weather magick will change the natural pattern . . . You could be responsible for far-off droughts or floods. Which in turn affects farmers and their crops and livestock. Which directly affects their income.

* Be respectful to your magick. Always perform your spells in places where you can remain focused and uninterrupted.

* Clean up your magickal/sacred space before you begin. Use your besom and/or vaccum, dust, consecrate your tools, when wiping things down use salt water for purification, censor or walk the area with a incense stick or cone.

*Clean up your magickal/sacred space residue. Release the  elements and deities, thank them or show appreciation for their presence, erase signs and symbols, and open the circle before you leave.

*Try not to leave your circle during rituals and spell casting but if you must, ALWAYS cut a door/opening with your wand, athame or index finger of your power hand.

Astrological Element

THE FIRE ELEMENT: (ARIES March 21-April 19, LEO July 23-August 22, SAGITTARIUS November 22-December 21)
Fire is bright, strong, and takes control. It wants to be in charge. You never can miss fire. Never subtle, the most confident of all the signs. When it wants something you will know! Fire people do not stop until they get what they want. Look to the fire people as the leaders. The majority of world leaders have strong fire elements in their charts. People look to fire people as the energy boosters of the zodiac. Want to start something with enthusiasm? Find yourself a fire sign. The motivator s and pep talk people are usually fire people. These people are very proud and confident.

Fire people can also be very arrogant and self-centered. Don’t go to a fire person for sympathy or comforting. They just don’t have the time. They are too busy getting their needed recognition. They have no patience for emotionalism or heaviness. They tend to run over the weaker, shyer signs.

Generally compatible with air signs, fire signs can become tired and bored with the intellectual observations of the more communicative air signs. Without the encouragement and ideas of the air signs the fire signs would be lost. A fire sign is the boss who takes your ideas and motivates and leads all the employees to better sales and marketing while taking all the credit.

THE ELEMENT AIR: (GEMINI, May 21-June 21, LIBRA, September 23-October 22, AQUARIUS, January 20-February 18)

Here you will find the talkers and communicators of the zodiac. If you need something written or spoken, ask an air sign. Ideas seem to materialize out of thin air for them. These people are like the air we breathe. Always moving and changing. Just when we think we know them poof, they change again. Very social these air signs. If your party seems dull and no one is talking, you don’t have enough air sign people to fill in the gaps between words with more words.

Objective and rational no emotionalism here. The air signs are so objective they can become impractical in their actions and beliefs. Superficial, these signs never want to get into heavy emotional discussions about the dreaded “feelings” dialog that are more important to watery signs. Like the air, these signs hate to be restricted. Freedom of thought and movement are their most cherished desires.

Fire signs work well with air signs. Fire needs air to generate heat. The fires stimulate and help motivate the air signs into new ideas.

THE ELEMENT WATER: (CANCER, June 22-July 22, SCORPIO, OCTOBER 23-November 21, PISCES February 19-March 20)
Like the water in a glass, water signs conform to the elements around them. Feelings, emotions, and deep personal conversations are what motivates and stimulates the water signs. Sensitive to a fault, the water signs are often more concerned with your feelings and needs then their own. You can find them at movies crying loudest and most often. Everything seems to touch them.

Psychic and secretive are often characteristics of the water elements. When they can no longer withstand the emotions of the world, they often retreat into their own private worlds. Sometimes this leads to compulsive behaviors and fearful ways of life. If the emotions get too strong, these people can be become addicted to drugs, alcohol, food or anything that keeps them from feeling as deeply.

Trust is a big need of theirs, which the earth signs can bring to water. Earth signs also bring the need stability and consistency to water that keeps it contained in a healthy calmer manner. In fact, water signs can be so emotional that the simplest things can get blown out of proportion into big dramatic scenes. Water signs dislike the strong boisterous personalities of the air and fire signs.

THE ELEMENT EARTH: (TAURUS, April 20-May 20, VIRGO, August 23-September 22, CAPRICORN December 22-January 19)
Talk about rocks. The most stable, consistent and sometimes rigid of all the signs. Once they make up their minds, like mountains they cannot be moved without huge efforts. Practical, patient, reasonable, and persistent are these signs. If you want to make sure a project gets done and gets done “right” call, on an earth person. They will stick with it until the bitter end. Not much one for spontaneity or flexibility. (We have to leave that up to the air signs) Not as sensitive as the water signs, the earth signs are still aware of the needs and often want to serve others. These people are not much one for the limelight. If it can be done, an earth sign will do it without the need for recognition.

Often so rigid, they become stuck with old routines to the point of impracticality. Fear of starting something new, earth signs can be very cautious to the point of missing a great opportunity. Conventional to a point of boredom.

The fast moving, changeable air signs fascinate Earth signs though they are un-trusting of their unworkable schemes. If you see an adult asking why repeatedly, you can pretty much be assured you are in the company of an earth sign. Fire signs are too forceful for their slower thorough nature. Sharing with the water signs the characteristics of retentiveness, self-protectiveness, and acquisitiveness. Water signs will sooth and comfort the worry element so often found in the earth people. With this support and encouragement, earth signs can work and work and work.

Belladonna (Atropa belladonna) aka banewort, witches berry, sorcerer’s berry, deadly nightshade, death’s herb, devil’s cherries *Poison*
Feminine. Saturn. Water. Deities: Hecate, Bellona, Circe

Highly toxic. All parts of the plant are extremely poisonous. Encourages astral projection and produces visions, but belladonna is best avoided. A primary ingredient in flying ointments. Used in funeral rituals to aspurge the circle, helping the deceased to let go and move forward. Used to invoke Circe. Gather berries when they are ripe (around Samhain.) Store with onyx. Medicinally, it has been used as a sedative.

As every part of the plant is extremely poisonous, neither leaves, berries, nor root should be handled if there are any cuts or abrasions on the hands. The root is the most poisonous, the leaves and flowers less so, and the berries, except to children, least of all. It is said that an adult may eat two or three berries without injury, but dangerous symptoms appear if more are taken, and it is wiser not to attempt the experiment. Though so powerful in its action on the human body, the plant seems to affect some of the lower animals but little. Rabbits, sheep, goats and swine eat the leaves with impunity, and birds often eat the seeds without any apparent effect, but cats and dogs are very susceptible to the poison. — Grieve’s Modern Herbal

Protection, Anti-Lightning, Luck, Dream Magick. One of the best protective herbs. The wood of the holly is very well suited for the handle of the ritual knife as it both attracts and repels energies. It is powerful when defense is needed in circle while preserving the gentleness within it. Holly water is sprinkled on newborn babies to protect them. Carried by men, it promotes luck. (Ivy is the corresponding plant of luck for women). Decorate the house with it at Yule for good luck.

After midnight on a Friday, without making a sound, gather nine holly leaves, preferably from a non-spiny plant (one that has smooth leaves). Wrap these up in a white cloth using nine knots to tie the ends together. Place this beneath your pillow, and your dreams will come true. — Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magickal Herbs
